Project Introduction
Team 15
CSULB MAE 471/472 Senior Design Project, January - December 2013
Project Topic:
Camera Mount / Elevated Camera Track
Client: Filmmakers & film students
Need: Often times in filmmaking, the camera needs to move while it is recording. There are existing methods to accomplish this goal, but they often can lead to conflicts with budget and/or space available. A new system that moves the camera similar to a dolly system but without the large space requirements or high cost is needed.
Problem Statement: : In filmmaking, a moving camera shot is often required. Space requirements can prevent a crew from setting up a dolly track, and aesthetic concerns will prevent a Steadicam from being deployed. In order to get a smooth, continuous, horizontal and/or vertical tracking shot in small quarters, a smaller, mechanically controlled camera movement system that is operable by one person is required.
